CORONADO COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE

The CNA Community Action Committee (formerly the Safety Commmittee) was created in 2024 in response to interest from the community.

Mission

The mission of the CNA Community Action Committee is to encourage proactive participation in addressing key challenges and concerns within the Coronado neighborhood, cultivating a vibrant, engaged community and high quality of life.

Purpose

  • Act as champions to engage, educate and share relevant resources with neighbors
  • Increase and maintain neighborhood awareness around key community issues
  • Develop and implement initiatives to address key concerns and benefit the community at large

Focus Areas

  1. Coronado champions Grow the group of neighborhood volunteers who are well-versed in resources, are willing to devote time to initiatives, and can act as “go-to” individuals to support and assist neighbors looking to take action.
  2. Neighborhood phone trees Build voluntary, hyper-local phone trees so neighbors can stay in touch and appeal to each other for help.
  3. Resource awareness Enhance neighborhood awareness around existing resources and identify any additional resources that could be socialized based on emerging neighborhood needs or new programs.
  4. Community clean-ups Schedule and coordinate community clean-ups, with support and cooperation from local businesses and the city as relevant.
  5. Public space activation Schedule and coordinate informal, low-cost activities to encourage neighbors to spend time in our shared spaces in a productive and visible way — track interest and attendance to expand as relevant.
  6. Targeted requests and petitions Rally neighborhood support around key causes to make requests or formal petitions to relevant city departments.
  7. Data gathering and community input Survey and interview community members, and seek out other data sources to better understand neighborhood challenges and needs to inform initiatives.
